Health-a-thon 2026: Where Doctors Meet Technology
Health-a-thon 2026 is India’s first hackathon that brings doctors and technologists together to co-create assistive AI solutions for healthcare. This isn’t about building diagnostic AI or clinical decision support – it’s about solving the day-to-day operational and workflow problems that slow healthcare down.
Who’s Behind It
This is a joint initiative by India’s leading health ecosystem:
- Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) – India’s largest association of OB-GYN specialists with 45,000+ members across 280+ societies
- National Cancer Grid (NCG) – 370+ member institutions serving nearly 60% of all cancer patients in India
- Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI) – 13,000+ members across 23 state chapters
- IIT Bombay KCDH – India’s first academic centre dedicated to Digital Health
- Koita Foundation – Driving Digital Health and AI adoption in India
Powered by Reskilll.
What You’ll Work On
The hackathon focuses on non-clinical, operational and workflow problems across three care domains:
- Cancer – Patient navigation, care coordination, follow-up management
- Diabetes – Patient engagement, lifestyle monitoring, care team workflows
- Maternal & Child Health – Antenatal care workflows, patient communication, caregiver support
Doctor / Care Team Facing Use Cases
Simplify workflows, reduce admin load and support better care coordination. 7 use cases available.
Patient / Caregiver Facing Use Cases
Guide, engage and empower patients and caregivers through their journey. 6 use cases available.
Who Can Participate
- Doctors – All practising doctors, residents, and fellows
- Medical Students – 3rd year onwards, interns, PG residents
- Healthcare Professionals – Nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, lab technicians, dietitians
- Startups / Health-Tech – Startups and health-tech companies
- Technology Teams – Developers, AI builders, researchers, innovators
- Engineering Students – Engineering students, M.E, PhD scholars
The Key Principle: Doctors Don’t Need to Code
This hackathon is designed so that doctors bring their clinical expertise and work with technology teams. No coding or AI expertise is required from medical professionals. The technology teams handle the implementation while doctors guide the problem understanding and validation.
Design Principles
Solutions should leverage existing AI capabilities – agents, orchestration frameworks, APIs and open-source tools. Work with existing workflows. Keep solutions assistive, human-centred and measurable within 60-90 days.
Out of Scope: Clinical AI solutions involving diagnosis, treatment recommendations, clinical decision support, or autonomous clinical advice.
