A hackathon on your resume is worth more than a course certificate. But only if you present it correctly. Most people write “Participated in XYZ Hackathon” – that tells the recruiter nothing. Here’s how to make it count.

Where to Put Hackathons on Resume
- If you won – separate “Achievements” or “Awards” section (above projects)
- If you built something deployed – “Projects” section (with the hackathon as context)
- If it’s your only experience – main body, right after Education
- If you have work experience – after work experience, before Skills
The GitHub Connection
Pin your hackathon project on your GitHub profile. When recruiters see the resume line AND the live GitHub project, it’s 10x more convincing than either alone.
